Just a short article here, taking a look at music as "the color of life".

What is music, and why?

Many people refer to music as a language. A language often full of emotion and beauty. Many people speak this language, as well as read and write it. Anyone can learn, and many speak it fluently.

In my recent ponderings, the question came up; why music? What is it about music? I'm sure you've seen topics around the forums about music and how uplifting it is. Here is my answer; music is the color of life. Countless people put their blood, sweat, and tears into music, to make masterpiece works of art. Music truly is the soundtrack of our lives. It can be joyful, angry, sad, melancholy, or any number of other emotions. Even without words, music can (and often does) tap into the very depths of the human soul, touching us in a way we never thought possible. Music holds magic that is unseen and untouchable.

Part of music?s beauty is the fact that it can be enjoyed on so many venues. It can be played, in dozens of different styles or genres, on many different instruments. Or, it can be simply heard, live or recorded. Music's versatility is what makes it so popular; there is something for everyone. Many people, musicians in particular, live for music. Sometimes it may simply be singing your favorite song in the shower that starts your day right.

Music deserves to be appriciated. So, next time you pop in your favorite CD, cue up an old record, or play an Mp3, take a step back and think about what it is about music that you love.

What color does your music add to your life? Maybe you could add a few new colors; listen to a new band. Or how about changing to a new canvas? Maybe you could take off the headphones, and sit down to relax while listening to your home stereo.
