an FAQ for beginning glowstringers. Q: What kind of strings should I use? A: Most people use shoelaces, but not a specific kind. Everyone has different preferences, I would suggest trying all kinds of laces if you find your current pair is uncomfortable. Once you find that one pair that you liked, stick with those. Q: Where can I buy shoelaces? A: Check out your local supermarkets, shoe stores, or sports stores. Q: How long should my strings be? A: Again, this is all just personal preference. Longer strings may enable you to do certain moves that you normally couldn't with shorter strings, and vice versa. You can see a picture of how long my strings are but feel free to change it to whatever makes you comfortable. Experiment and adjust your length until you think it's perfect for YOU.
Q: What kind of glowsticks should I use? A: Most people use 6-inch glowsticks or LEDsticks. Q: How should I hold my strings? A: Everyone hold them differently, just hold them however you feel comfortable. Some people pinch them between their index finger and thumb. Some people wrap/tie them around their hand/finger. Some stick their fingers through a loop-ed string. Q: I just started learning, any advice for me? A: Go slow, speed is just blurred mistakes. Aim, learn to control where you want the glowsticks to be swung. Do it with just one hand at a time, if you just started trying for a move. Q: How do I do the -insert move name here-? A: check out this glowstring tutorial collection compiled by our Glowsticking.com members If the move you are looking for isn't listed there. Try asking nicely here, the glowstringing section of the forum. Many people will be happy to help you.
